The women’s soccer team ended the season on a high note with an 8-1 victory over Southwest State.
Janine Fagan sunk five of those goals in the Nov. 2 non-conference match at Bob Shelden field.
With those goals, she tied the school record set by teammate Jennifer Briggs during the 2000 season.
Briggs contributed the three other goals in the match.
A Newcastle, England native, Fagan opened up scoring for the Jacks in the sixth minute of play.
Briggs sunk two more in the next 12 minutes, assisted by Anne Balzersen and Kara Carpenter respectively.
Fagan got the final goal of the half in the 33rd minute.
The second half of the match tallied three more goals for Fagan and another for Briggs.
Southwest State’s Noelle Smith managed to interject one goal on an assist by Nadia AbuAyed in the 58th minute.
Southwest State dropped to 8-9-1 overall with the loss.
With a final season record of 10-8, the Jacks almost remedied the effects of a mid-season six-game losing streak during the final weeks of play.
