Learning to be a married man at SDSU

In most people’s lives (except for a few chauvinist male friends that I have) the day will come when wedding bells ring as they settle down for a life of devotion to their spouse.
For those who decide to take these steps during college, interesting challenges present themselves.
How often have you heard some 35-year-old bachelor say, “Hey, there’s some pretty hot chicks there in college, huh?”
Whether you’re 16 or 66, all college women are good looking. I call it the “Anna Nicole” syndrome–why do old men marry 20-somethings?
It certainly doesn’t take a genius to figure that out.
Seriously, the women in college look as good as they will ever look in their lives. This fact makes being married in college quite a challenge.
The challenge is not to stay monogamous, mind you, most guys do a fairly good job of that.
I’m talking about looking at other pretty women here.
There are about 4,000 women in the prime of their lives crammed into one square mile at SDSU. If you do the math, that equals almost one-and-a-half women per square foot. The temptation to look is always there and never goes away.
For those who are married in college, that makes it nearly impossible to go without looking at a good-looking member of the opposite sex during your time in school.
If you are walking across campus with your wife and you see three good-looking women every two feet and you are slapped every time you look, you’d look like a professional boxer by the end of the day.
But, marriage is like a brawl anyway, right?
You go into it hoping you don’t get hurt, until you’re laying in the gutter because your spouse kicked you in the nuts and set the house on fire before running off with your younger brother.
Girls, the worst is all ahead of you.
Most guys you would marry by now have seen their better days.
Sure, some guys stay slim after high school, but most will gain 10 to 40 pounds during their four years spent in higher education.
I think you should tie them down early and then nag on them for the rest of their life to keep fit.
It works.
Marriage in college is a tough thing to do. In order to be successful, trust, understanding and love are required.
But guys, just because she trusts you does not mean you have the right to disrespect her.
Please, try not to stare at the volleyball players or cheerleaders.
At least, not while she’s watching.
Nathan Sanderson has never looked at a woman other than his wife. Seriously! He has pure and virgin eyes! Tell him what a good person he is at [email protected].
