Who the heck are you people? or looking for readers

I ran into a girl from my hometown over the Christmas break and chit-chatted her up a bit, as she had just spent her first semester at that beloved institution of higher learning known as SDSU.
We talked for a while, then she asked me why she hadn’t been made aware of tryouts for Capers. Two of her friends had also wanted to try out.
“Well, we had signs hanging up all over campus,” I said.
“Yeah, but I don’t look at the walls,” she said.
“We did advertise in the Collegian.”
“I don’t read that!”
I shook my head in disdain at that one. “They talked about it on KSDJ.”
“Well, I don’t listen to KSDJ. I only listen to Hot 104.7.”
“So we were supposed to call you?”
“I dunno …”
We ended the conversation soon after, but I realized that she likely represents a large number of you, who remain non-wall-looking, non-newspaper-reading, non-radio-station-listening uninvolved folk.
And I say, if you want to know what’s going on, SEEK IT OUT!
To that end, we will be conducting a simple readership survey in the weeks to come. We hope you will participate.
We need to know what you want to read and since you won’t tell us yourselves, we’ll have to force you to tell us.
So, if you see us, answer our questions or we’ll torture you.
It’s only fair.
