The SDSU women’s soccer team finished its home-game season Sunday afternoon as they tied 0-0 with the St. Mary Flames.
The Jacks’ offensive was unsuccessful at getting the ball to the goal for most of the game and was unable to get a shot past St. Mary’s goal keeper Gina Green as she made 10 saves. SDSU goal keeper Erin Miller recorded five.
“Keep it simple and quick. You’re having to work way too hard,” head soccer coach Lang Wedemeyer shouted from the sidelines early in the second period.
SDSU outshot their opponents 20 to 11 as the game went into overtime for the ninth time this season and gave them their sixth tied match this year.
The match was also the final home game for the four seniors on the team. The four seniors include forward Melissa Speiser, midfielder Kara Carpenter and goalkeepers Erin Miller and Mariah Farley.
The team, now ranked fourth in the North Central Conference with a 2-2-3 NCC record and a 8-4-6 overall record, head to the NCC Soccer Championships on Friday to face host and number-one-ranked Minnesota State in Mankato at 11:30 a.m.
The winner of the match up will advance to the championship game on Saturday at 1 p.m.
