With the year wrapping up, here is a review of some of the highlights from the SDSU sports scene that did not make the juice top ten.

1. Back to the Elite 8: The Lady Jackrabbits made it to three North Central Regional championships as they defeated North Dakota. They traveled to St. Joesph, Mo., with hopes of a repeat, but fell short to eventual champion California (Pa.) in the national quarterfinals.

2. Nelson rewrites the gridiron record books: Junior quarterback Brad Nelson entered the season with little game experience. He shone in his first game and bounced back from a rough three-game skid with a late season tear that established new single-season records for passing yards and touchdowns.

3. The Matt Jones saga: The men’s basketball team reeled off 17 wins to start the season as sophomore forward Matt Jones returned from an illness last season. However, fatigue struck the Alpena native again and kept him out for most of the season’s second half. After being treated for Lyme Disease, Jones returned to the lineup to bolster the Jacks’ playoff run.

4. Title IX Compliance: SDSU made a progressive decision to add coaches and women’s equestrian. USD yanked the rug out from its baseball team.

5. Jackrabbit Stampede Rodeo: The Rodeo Club hosted its 50th annual springtime rodeo at the Swiftel Center and gave the Collegian an opportunity to take some of this year’s best photographs!

Dishonorable Mention-The Demise of a Rivalry : The SDSU-USD rivalry has reached its likely end as the Jacks move up to Division I. Coyote fans have been crying in their beer while State is moving on to bigger and better things.
