Jesse Hamer

Warren Rosser’s name might not be familiar to you, but he’s well known in the art world.

His work is currently on display at the South Dakota Art Museum. and his artist’s reception is Friday, Sept. 24 at 5:30 p.m.

Originally from South Wales, Rosser was trained as a painter, but sculpted in the 80s. In 1998 he returned to painting and has been working on his series “To be continued…” that is now on exhibit at the art museum.

The exhibit will be shown until Dec. 5 and showcases some of his work done between 1998 and now.

His work is considered incredibly fresh and bold by art critics, with most of his canvases at least six feet high.

Unlike many painters, Rosser doesn’t use paintbrushes. Instead he chooses to make his mark with palette knives, stencils, squeegees, and masking tape.

The reception is free and Rosser will be available to answer qestionsabout his work.
