The Students’ Association unanimously approved a budget of $102,190 for the band and choir programs Nov. 1.
The budget increased by $8,645 this year.
Corliss Johnson, head of the music department, said they needed more money because the band grew by 38 percent in the last few years, he said. Last year, SA decided to give them 35 percent over two years – 10 percent last year and 15 percent this year.
The chorus also needed extra money to bring in string players for the musical, Johnson said.
