Despite a loss of electricity during their first practice on a new stage four days before opening night, the Capers cast continues as scheduled.
Time is running short for these young actors, but they pull their performance together for the last few rehearsals before opening night, creating a fluent run-through.
The Capers cast practiced every night since January 11 for three to four hours a night.
Capers is an annual play put on by SDSU students. The show is sponsored and produced each year by the theatre fratrnityAlpha Psi Omega. The members of APO control everything from the directing to the lighting design.
Tommy Wedge, APO president and this year’s director, says Capers 2005 will be much funnier than last year’s.
“The play is written by college students, for college students,” says Wedge.
And indeed, the play is filled with innuendo and sexual comments that may drop jaws in astonishment.
Although a great show to take your friends to, you may want to leave your younger siblings at home. However, the general idea is amusing and will leave you laughing throughout the whole play.
The actors in the show are fantastic, with a great casting for each position.
The play has many different sections that are all as hilarious as the previous ones. The dance scenes are nicely choreographed and matched by the entertaining mixes between two opposite elements. You definitely won’t be disappointed by the variety in the show.
This year, Capers will also include a live performance by the band Spooncat and the State Sensations.
Capers performances will be held at Doner Auditorium Jan. 26, 27 and 28 at 8 p.m. with a 2 p.m. matinee on Jan. 29. Each show runs for approximately two hours.
After the Saturday performance, the Capers cast can be seen at the Main Street Pub. There is a cover charge of $5.
