The Second Annual Interactive Murder Mystery Dinner raising money for the Brookings Area Habitat for Humanity will be held at the Volga Community Center this Friday.

A three-course meal of Caribbean-style food will be served at the event.

“We’re hoping they’ll even dress up in a Caribbean theme,” said Crystal Aschenbrener, executive director of the Brookings Area Habitat for Humanity.

The plot progresses between courses. Some guests will be involved in the plot and others will be observers.

“Everybody is welcome to get clues throughout the night in between each course,” said Aschenbrener.

The two people who are closest to solving the mystery will receive a prize. Prizes for best costume and best dancer will also be given away.

The plot?

“Tilly Song, a megastar singer, has hired a luxury-plus cruiser to see the Bahamas and have a holiday. She has invited a variety of other famous people along. But just as the party was about to start, Karl Virgil, musician and mad-man troublemaker, has been found overboard as full of water as he was of his own self-importance,” the description reads.

The plot was taken from a Web site that offers scripts for such events.

Tickets are $20 and there is a capacity of 105. The dinner starts at 7 p.m.
