Before the team was officially introduced on Friday night, the first lesson in “Jacks FanAddicts 101” was given. Head of Promotions Micah Grenz addressed the crowd with instructions of what to do at basketball games.

The first thing he mentioned was the importance of the cowbell. A clip from a “Saturday Night Live” skit featuring Christopher Walken, Will Ferrell and the cowbell ignited the crowd into a cowbell fury.

Grenz next talked about the slogan “Go Big. Go Blue. Go Jacks.” He told the crowd the “big” represents how SDSU is playing in the big time now. The “blue” is a school color, and everyone should wear school colors to sporting events. Finally, he said, the entire crowd is supposed to yell, “Go Jacks,” the same time the announcer does.

Grenz then addressed the crowd about instituting an old tradition of chanting “We want the Jacks” before the team runs onto the court.

Other installments of “Jacks FanAddicts 101” will take place throughout the basketball season.
