The Jacks hockey team started the year off battling rival Dordt College. The two teams split the weekend series, with Dordt besting the Jacks 6-4 on Friday night and the Jacks exacting revenge on Saturday night, winning 5-4 in overtime.
Jake Gustafson led the team with two goals, while chipping in an assist. Adam Nelson and LJ Prussman also had three points, with one goal and two assists each.
Brad VanSanten stopped 31 shots in Friday night’s loss, while Dan Ingemansen stopped 31 shots in Saturday night’s win.
“The goalies did a good job of stopping the puck,” said Head Coach Nate Bofenkamp.
Bofenkamp was pleased with how his team played in their first match of the season, especially because Dordt had played about a dozen games already this season.
