Playing against international opponents, the SDSU ultimate frisbee team finished 5th place out of 14 teams in a tournament at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn.

The frisbee team had one win and two losses in pool play on April 28. The club lost to Minnesota State University-Mankato and a club from Winnipeg, the eventual champion of the tournament.

In bracket play, the club fared much better, winning three games while only losing one. The Jacks beat North Dakota State University and Carleton College.

The frisbee club savored the taste of revenge by beating Minnesota State University-Mankato in tournament play.

“We lost a close game to Mankato in pool play; so when we beat them for 5th place, it was redeeming, said junior Sean Krohse.

SDSU defeated Mankato 13-9 in a back and forth game.

While only going 4-3 on the tournament, SDSU was satisfied with the team’s effort.

“Everyone one played hard and exceptionally well,” said Krohse.

Tournament “discs” went to Brandon Haynes, newcomer Nate King and Club President Alex Hasek.

“Hasek has contributed greatly and has lead the team,” Krohse said.
