The men who are in charge of leading the SDSU football team will play their final game at Coughlin-Alumni Stadium on Nov. 8.

Thirteen seniors will wear their blue helmets for the last time in front of the home faithful. Below is a review of what these athletes have done in their four years at SDSU.

-No. 2, Ryan Berry, quarterback

Berry will go down as one of the best quarterbacks ever to play for the Jacks. The Watertown native is one of 15 finalists for the Draddy Trophy (the so-called Academic Heisman Trophy).

-No. 10, Brock Campbell, safety

Campbell started his career at wide receiver before moving to defensive back. He is one of a few seniors who will receive four letters at SDSU. The safety would have played more games if not for injury this season and during the 2006 campaign.

-No. 64, Nick Flesner, offensive lineman

Flesner was named to the Great West Football team twice (2006-07) and to the All Great West Football Conference Academic Team last year. He is a three-time starter and will graduate with four letters.

-No. 32, Adam Fritz, defensive back

Fritz has played three strong years for the Jackrabbits and stepped up this year after the secondary was banged up. The Coleman native is majoring in mechanical engineering.

-No. 78, Scott Gillen, offensive lineman

Gillen will be a four-time letter winner. The White Lake native has come off the bench and has provided strong blocking. Gillen has been behind the holes for Jacks running back, Kyle Minett.

-No. 86, Luke Greving, tight end

Greving has played in 41 of the last 42 games for the Jacks. The senior tight end is averaging 10.5 yards per catch this year and is a good blocking-back that has provided many holes this year. The Alton, Iowa, native is majoring in industrial management.

-No. 1, JaRon Harris, wide receiver

Harris earned second-team All Great West honors in 2006 and 2007. He leads the Missouri Valley Football Conference in catches (55), and in 2006, he had three touchdowns at Cal-Poly in the final eight minutes of a historic comeback. The senior wide receiver only played one year of high school football.

-No. 84, Saunders Montague, wide receiver

The Gilbert, Ariz., native is one of a few SDSU transfers. The wide out will have eligability next year as he redshirted this year. Montague has only played one year for SDSU but has averaged 18.2 yards per catch, a team high. He is majoring in pre-economics.

-No. 90, Jason Nobiling, defensive lineman

Nobiling is a key member of the Jacks’ fierce defensive line unit. He has recorded three sacks for a loss of 17 yards in 2008. The Ballard High School alumnus (Huxley, Iowa), will earn his third letter this year; he would have earned four if not for an injury in 2006.

-No. 75, Kevin Robling, offensive lineman

The Jordan, Minn., native will earn his fourth letter this year. Robling was the lone Jackrabbit on the 2008 preseason All Missouri Valley Football Conference team and was a member of the All GWFC Academic Team in 2006 and 2007.

-No. 97, Eric Schroeder, defensive lineman

Last year, he led the Great West Football Conference with tackles for loss with 13.5 tackles for a loss. This year will mark Schroeder’s fourth letter. The senior has strengthened the defensive line in his time at State and has only missed two games in four years.

-No. 35, Nash Simet, defensive back

The Brookings native will earn his fourth letter this year. Simet has stepped up the last two years in the secondary, and head coach John Stiegelmeier has credited him for his work ethic. In 2005, he played running back for SDSU.

-No. 40, Nick Van Wyhe

The Luverne, Minn., native was a late-add to the team in 2006. In 2007, he showed strong scout-team performance, earning Scout Defensive Player of the Week, twice. He is majoring in civil engineering.
