Career Week helps answer questions

So you've survived the first nine weeks of the semester and you still don't know why are are here.

Well, to help you reach that big decision that can give you the focus you need to take classes that mean something, the Career and Academic Planning Center is here to help.

The CAP center is sponsoring Career Week Nov. 13 through the 16 to help students find a suitable career. Starting on Tuesday the CAP center will have a table set-up in the Student Union Breezeway, from noon until 3 p.m., that will provide students with information on career questions.

Students can also attended a resume writing help session from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. in The Student Union room 103.

Having a good resume is crucial to anyone looking for a good job or even a good internship.

There will be several people on hand who will help enhance student resume skills.

Wednesday, from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. there will be an interview skills help session. This session will give students tips and skill ideas necessary for surviving the interview process. The CAP center will host a practice interview from 3 until 6 p.m. Please call and register for a half-hour appointment ahead of time.

Interviews are the key in promoting oneself to a business or an agency.

Thursday, students will be able to take part in preparing their professional portfolio from 5 until 6 p.m. Having a good portfolio is also crucial for impressing potential employers. Even if students have no idea what a portfolio is or what a portfolio needs to include, CAP center experts will be on hand to help.

To end Career Week, Friday, the College of General Studies and Outreach Programs will be hosting an open house in Medary Commons from 2 until 4 p.m.

The College of General Studies is excited to announce its new name change and to inform students about their new programs.

Everyone is welcomed to attend.

There really is no better time than now to know what you want out of the future and Career Week is there to help you get started.
