The SDSU Jackrabbits ended their season on the road in Indiana facing both Fort Wayne and IUPUI getting swept by both teams.

The first matchup was against Fort Wayne on Friday Nov. 15. The Jacks lost by scores of; 25-14, 25-14, 25-14.

It was an off night for SDSU as they struggled on both areas of the match. They were out blocked five to eight which is unusual as the Jacks are normally leaders in that category in matches. They also had a attack percentage of .025 which is one of the lowest averages they have had all season.

“That’s a tough loss tonight” head coach Phil McDaniel said. “ We did not have enough fight in us to battle.”

This drops the Jackrabbits to 5-21 on the year and 3-10 in Summit League conference play.

Courtney Roberts led the team in kills with eight followed by Wagner Larson with five. Lexi Fowler lead the team in digs with eight followed by Alanna Pengilly with five.

The Jackrabbits would then turn around to play again against IUPUI on Saturday, Nov. 16 falling again 3 sets to 0.

They would not put up much more of a fight than they did against Fort Wayne falling by scores of; 25-11, 25-16, and 25-15 to the Jaguars.

The Jackrabbit’s season ended on a poor note, but McDaniels is confident the team will come back stronger next fall.

“It’s always tough to have that talk in the locker room after your final match,” McDaniel said. “I think that we have some solid building blocks that we can build on.”

The Jacks will not move on to the playoffs ending the season 5-22 with a 3-11 Summit league record.

The Jackrabbits did improve on their play in this match winning the block battle 5-2. They also improved on their offensive attack percentage. Unfortunately that would still not be enough to win the match.

Kacey Herrman and Mikala Hora both lead the team in kills with six, Herrman would also lead the team in kills with 11. Lexi Fowler would lead the team in assists for her final game as a Jackrabbit with 24.

Fowler would finished her Jackrabbit career with 2,615 set assists, seventh career all time for SDSU women’s volleyball. She also has 732 digs in her career at SDSU.

Wagner Larson finishes the season leading the team in kills on the season with 238 on the year, Tiara Gibson finished second with 161, and Courtney Roberts third with 147. Lizzie Palmer led the team in digs on the season with 297.
