SIOUX FALLS, S.D.—The South Dakota State men’s golf team placed fifth at the 2014 Jackrabbits Fall Invitational at the Minnehaha Country Club Tuesday after shooting a third-round 309.
The Jacks shot a three-round 890 on the 6,424-yard, par-71 course. South Dakota finished first (290-280-297=867) in the eight-team field.
Junior Dylan Baker (Eden Prairie, Minn.) recorded his first top-five and second top-10 finish of the season, tying for fifth after shooting a third-round 78 (66-72-78=216).
Sophomore Grant Smith (Des Moines, Iowa) fired 218 (72-70-76) to finish tied for eighth. Freshman Zach Sackett (Winnipeg, Manitoba) recorded a 227 (72-77-78) with a final-round 78 to place tied for 21st.
Sophomore Ian Rinken (Sioux Falls) tied for 34th after shooting 284 (75-78-81) and freshman Naqiuddin Fuad (Perak, Malaysia) finished tied for 33rd with a three-round 233 (74-82-77).
Competing as individuals, sophomore Trevor Tobin (Brandon) tied for 24th, shooting a 228 (74-78-76). Junior Austin Sitter (Sioux Falls) shot a 230 (77-76-77) to tie for 28th.
Sophomore Guillermo Gonzalez (Merida, Yucatan) tied for 39th (79-79-79=237) and freshman Michael Duch (Aberdeen) was 41st (89-84-78=251).
