Larsen leading resurgent Rabbits

For her performance this past weekend, as well as during the season as a whole to this point, Devan Larsen is this week’s Collegian Sports’ Athlete of the Week.

In a doubleheader against Dakota Wesleyan where the Jacks claimed both victories, Larsen was perfect at the plate, going 5-5 with three home runs, one of which was an inside-the-parker, three RBIs and seven runs scored.

Larsen has started all 22 games for the Jacks this season and leads the Rabbits with seven total home runs while batting .313, good for third best among the regular starters. She also leads the team in runs scored with 19.

Led in part by Larsen’s offensive surge, the Jacks are 8-14 in the first season of Head Coach Krista Wood’s tenure, a notable improvement from the 2014 season when Jackrabbit Softball finished the year 11-36.

Having followed up the two wins in Mitchell with a pair of close losses at Missouri-Kansas City on Tuesday, the Jacks next games are a quick turn around as they travel to face Southwest Minnesota State in a doubleheader Wednesday, April 1.
