JACKRABBIT ATHLETICS

Women’s golf junior Sydney MacDonald earned her first Summit League Golfer of the Week honor of the season and second of her career after helping the Jackrabbits to their second tournament title of the season.

The Calgary, Alberta, Canada native finished second out of 101 golfers as the Jacks won the 2015 MSU Ocala Spring Invitational Tuesday. She shot a 54-hole 214 (73-73-68) on the Juliette Falls Golf Resort par-72, 6,113-yard course. MacDonald broke three school records with career lows for 18 holes (68), 36 holes (141) and 54 holes (214).

MacDonald has a 76.04 scoring average over 25 rounds, including five under par, and has four top-five and six 10-top finishes this season. Her scoring average ranks sixth in the Summit League while the Jackrabbit team is third with a 305.6 scoring average.

MacDonald and the Jackrabbits return to action April 6-7 when they travel to Kansas City, Mo., for the UMKC Shoot-Out.
