Hobo Shop opens up for limited time

By Sara Bertsch

For the third year in a row, the Hobo Shop is making its appearance yet again in The Union.

On Tuesday, the shop opened up to its customers featuring a whole round of new products according to Nick Wendell, the director of student engagement.

A lot of the items are Midwest and South Dakota made, providing a wanderlust, wandering feeling.

However, the Hobo Shop won’t be around long.

This “pop-up” shop, as Wendell describes it, is open for 10 days only. It features a lot of specialty items, but in limited quantities. Meaning if students see something they like, they better buy it, because in two days it might just be gone.

The shop is open from 10 a.m until 7 p.m. every weekday until Hobo Day. On Hobo Day it will be open only from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Students aren’t the only ones benefitting from this shop. Some of the proceeds go to the Hobo Day Committee to help put on the annual affair, known to many as the ‘biggest one day event of the Dakotas.’

“It keeps the hobo spirit alive and excited,” Wendell said.

The shop is located on the first floor of the Union near Einstein Bros Bagels.
