Sept. 8 isn’t just the season and home opener for the football team, it’s also the Pride of the Dakota’s marching band first game of the season.

The Pride has not been seen on the home turf since Dec. 9, 2017, when the Jacks hosted New Hampshire in the FCS playoffs. And the pride is back with a new halftime show called “Guitar Hero.”

The idea for this show theme was “mainly driven by the fact that we have a talented guitar player [Duel Shape] in our department and I wanted to highlight that talent” said Kevin Kessler, director of the Pride of the Dakotas.

The show will open with “All Along the Watchtower” by Jimi Hendrix and close with “Holiday” by Green Day.

“Free Bird” by Lynyrd Skynyrd will be performed on Sept. 15, when the Jacks host the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.

The tunes that were selected based their great representative guitar players. From rock ‘n’ roll legend, Jimi Hendrix, to Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Free Bird,” this show is bound to get you on your feet and rocking.

The Pride will perform “Guitar Hero” at the halftime of the Montana State game on Saturday, Sep. 8 at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium.
