Undeniably Dairy Dash Moves to South Dakota State University Campus.
The second annual Dairy Dash was put on by Undeniably Dairy last Saturday, September 7, at the Miller Wellness Center on the South Dakota State University campus.
With the first Dairy Dash being held at Good Earth State Park in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, in 2023, the group decided to move the event to the SDSU campus for the 2024 year.
The Event Company, based out of Sioux Falls, helped plan and promote the event.
The Event Company’s Krista Vandersnick said they are happy to partner with the event by helping with the planning and promotion.
Vandersnick also said that she hopes to continue to do this event for years to come, as well as keep it on the SDSU campus.
“Our target market is college students, and dairy is a big part of SDSU, so why go anywhere else?” Vandersnick said.
For the 2024 Dash, children between the ages of 2 and 10 years old participated in a mile fun run called the “Moo Mile,” while people 11 and older participated in the 5K race. At the end of each race, participants were greeted at the finish line by the sound of cowbells, and each received a T-shirt.
“Participating in the Dairy Dash is not just about running. It’s about coming together as a community to support a great cause and celebrate the benefits of dairy,” Mariah Weber, director of recreation & fitness at the Miller Wellness Center said. “We invite everyone to join us in making a difference and enjoying a morning of family-friendly activities and local dairy treats.”
At the dash, participants experienced activities like visiting local dairy vendors, participating in other games, having photo opportunities and having educational opportunities with local dairy farmers.
All money raised from the event goes into a large donation to SDSU’s Jacks Cupboard by providing dairy products to the organization throughout the year.
Jacks Cupboard is a free, on-campus food pantry for SDSU students. The group helps students by providing food and personal care items to those in need.
