Marathon raises funds for CMN

A Dance Marathon sponsored by the University Program Council will be held in the Volstorff Ballroom of the University Student Union from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7.

The eight-hour event will feature entertainment by on campus groups and several SDSU students, as well as UPC-organized games like a jitterbug dance-off, balloon shaving and jello wrestling.

Some performers include singer/songwriters Alexis Bartholomew and Matt Skillman, as well as the State Sensations. There will also be several CMN families sharing their stories.

The theme of the night will be “Livin’ It Up Party Spring Break Style, and proceeds will raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network. The non-profit group raises fund and awareness for children’s hospitals throughout North America. They treat more then 14 million children with diseases, injuries, and birth defects per year.

Participants will “travel” around the world to places like Las Vegas/Hollywood, New Orleans, Nashville and Mexico.

To take part, students must sign up for the “Dancer Package.”

Eligible partyers must raise the goal donation of $100 to be able to participate in all events, and will also get a T-shirt commemorating the event.
