Lady Jacks dominate the Vikings, 107-64

South Dakota State led by 18 at halftime, then opened the second half with a 12-0 run as the Jackrabbits rolled past Augustana 107-64 in North Central Conference women’s basketball Saturday afternoon at the Elmen Center.

Freshman Megan Vogel hit 9 of 11 field goal attempts, including four three-pointers, and led the Jacks with 24 points while Shannon Schlagel added 23 as SDSU put five in double figures. Schlagel was 7 for 8 from the field.

Heather Sieler added 15, Stacie Cizek 12 and Sarita DeBoer 10 with a team-high of nine rebounds.

The Jacks grabbed the momentum midway through the first half.

With the score tied 13-13 with 13:25, SDSU scored 12 unanswered points to grab a 25-13 lead with just under 10 minutes remaining in the half.

SDSU led 48-30 at halftime, then sprinted to a 60-30 lead to start the second half.

SDSU reached the century mark inscoring when Corrie Dickmeyer drained a three-pointer with 4:36 to play, making it 101-53.

SDSU is now 17-4 overall, 6-2 in the NCC, and will make the North Dakota trip next weekend, playing at NDSU Friday.

Augustana is 11-10 overall, 3-5 in the NCC, and will be at UND Friday.
