SDSU’s Men defeat Augustana, 87-60

South Dakota State picked up its 21st victory of the season by routing Augustana 87-60 at the Elmen Center in Sioux Falls Saturday afternoon while 3,644 fans watched.

The fans were almost participants in the game; there were two technical fouls called on the Huskies for rabbits thrown on the court.

After the first, the Jacks blew the game open. SDSU was leading 22-14 when Andy Moeller hit two free throws off the technical to launch a 12-1 run which put the Jacks ahead 34-15.

SDSU led 46-24 at halftime, and was ahead 69-38 at the 10:56 mark of the second half when the second technical foul occured.

Andy Moeller led the Jacks with 20 points, 15 in the first half, while Josh Cerveny, in his second start, added 14.

Derrick Schantz led SDSU to a 51-33 rebounding advantage with ten boards to go with six points.

Marquise Richardson had an excellent floor game with eight points, nine rebounds, seven assists and five steals.

Thirteen players suited up for the Jacks, and all 13 scored.

SDSU is now 21-3 overall, 5-3 in the NCC, while Augustana fell to 5-16 overall, 1-7 in the NCC.

Both teams go to North Dakota next weekend; SDSU at NDSU and Augustana at UND Friday.
