Hobo in a Box a success

staff

Thanks to all individuals and businesses that contributed to the success of Hobo in a Box 2004, an SDSU Golden Key International Honour Society event designed to raise product donations and promote social awareness of homelessness!

The event held at the Alumni Center and Sylvan Green was comprised of 40 SDSU students arranged in five different teams — Team Kristy, New Rock 90.7, Lucky You, Sigma Phi Epsilon and College Democrats.

All the teams’ donations were distributed among the Boys and Girls Club, Brookings Area Food Pantry, First Lutheran Church Food Pantry, Domestic Abuse Shelter, Goodwill, United Retirement Center, Brookview Manor, Brookings Animal Control and Brookings Regional Humane Society. Golden Key gave the remaining funds from the operation of Hobo in a Box to the Habitat for Humanity Chapter in Brookings.

Businesses that participated include: Cooks Waste Paper and Recycling, Papa Johns, Walmart, Aramark, Larson Manufacturing, Perkins Restaurant and Bakery, Runnings Farm and Fleet, Mr. Movies, Hy-Vee, Perry Electric, Air Conditioning, and Heating Inc., First National Bank, Volga, Pioneer Fun Spas, Pizza Hut, Blockbuster Video, Eggers Chiropractic, Mad Jack’s, Midwest Glass, Inc., McDonalds, KSDJ (New Rock 90.7), Rays Corner, Brookings Register, Mediacom, Town and Country Shopper and the Alumni Center.
