Golf Reaches End

SDSU’s men’s and women’s golf teams ended their regular seasons this past week.
While the men finished in 14th place at Northwest Region Spring Head-to-Head Tournament in Lincoln, Neb., the women captured sixth place at the MSU Maverick Invitational in Mankato.
The Jackrabbit men shot their lowest round on the final day of the tournament with a 312 team total to finish at 946.
Freshmen Steve Klock led the Jacks with a 227 total (75-78-74) and a 22nd placing.
Juniors Matt Conlon and Michael Kuchta tied for 48th place with 237 totals.
The lady Jackrabbits, who have finished in the top half of all four spring tournaments, shot a 696 total (345-351).
This was just 31 strokes behind the team champion, Minnesota State University, Mankato.
Individually, sophomore Kelli Endahl was the Jacks’ top finisher. She tied for 17th place with a two-day total of 172 (83-89).
Jackrabbit sophomore Kelly Evans followed her, finishing in 20th place with a 173 (84-89).
Sophomore Lindsey Brown shot a team-best on Sunday with a 79.
Next year looks bright for both the men’s and women’s golf teams, as they return several key players.
The men’s golf team in anticipating that all of the golfers will return next year. The lady Jackrabbits will lose one senior, Jill Murra.
