Thanksgiving is a time to gather ’round the table with family and friends, share a meal, be thankful for what we have and then try and figure out what to do with the mountain of leftovers. When it comes to the holidays, tradition is a pretty big deal.

On occasion, sticking to tradition just isn’t possible. As adults we have to pay the bills and that means we have to work holidays. So what can we do to fulfill our obligations and still get our annual helping of turkey?

Keep it simple. Not all Thanksgiving dinners have to be elaborate productions. With a little creativity and a little time you can have the dinner and decorations that are right for you.

The most important part of Thanksgiving dinner is the turkey. Chances are you don’t need to spend your day preparing a large bird.

Plan your main dish around the number of people who will be eating it. If you are having a few friends stop by, you can try cooking a turkey breast. It isn’t nearly as large as a full bird but may be just right for three or four people.
