The SDSU women’s basketball team had their final exhibition game Nov. 3 beating Southwest Minnesota State 79-44 at Frost Arena.

The Jacks dominated throughout the game, never trailing and holding a 47-16 lead at halftime. SDSU shot seven of 14 from the three-point line while holding the Mustangs to only seven field goals in the first half.

Senior Courtney Grimsrud led all players with 16 points, 13 rebounds and five blocks. Junior Stacie Oistad came off the bench and added 11 points and five rebounds.

The Jacks spread out the playing time as they went 10 deep with every player tallying at least 13 minutes. Every player that saw the court ended up recording an assist and nine of the 10 scored and had a rebound.

Forward Sara Leidall led SMSU with 16 points in only 20 minutes.

The Jacks ended up with more total rebounds (49) than points given up, (44). Jennifer Warkenthien did not play but is expected to start in the regular season opener.

SDSU opens the regular season Nov. 9 against Arkansas State with tip off scheduled for 8 p.m.
