Do you dream about winning $100,000 or do you dream of bringing famed comedian Frank Caliendo to the campus of SDSU? Well, Alltel Wireless and FanU.com have teamed up to give you a chance to have both dreams a reality. Both companies made the joint announcement early this basketball season.

The Collegian is proud to announce that you can be the first “Chief Basketball Officer” by simply the click of your mouse. By logging on to www.fanu.com/alltel fans can pick ten games for five weeks; at the end of the winner will not only be called the C.B.O. and receive $100,000 but will also receive the five-star treatment. The winner will travel to any conference basketball tournament in the country at no charge to the winner. On another’s dime, the winner will also meet a host of American celebrities. Each week the top point earner will receive $1,000 dollars; also, those who score 8,000 or more points each week will be given a Skinit for their cell phones.

Dick Vitale (the long-time announcer and fresh off his final cancer treatment), “Chad” the Alltel Wireless guy and other celebrities will welcome you in Charlotte, N.C., for the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament on March 12; there will be no charge for the C.B.O to attend the tourney.

The University of Arizona, North Carolina State, Duke University, the University of Oklahoma, Creighton University, the University of South Florida, Michigan State, New Mexico, Texas-El Paso and Kansas State are among the universities SDSU will be competing against to bring Caliendo to Brookings.

Since college students in the Brookings area make up over 50% of the approximately 18,000 population of SDSU, compared to South Florida-located in Tampa Bay, Fla., with a population of over two million-if Brookings wants to bring the man from MadTV and Fox NFL pre-game show every vote will count, and you can win 100,000 clams.

The top three-vote getters in the “My Circle Pick & Roll Challenge” will be able to meet Vitale. The famed announcer will then choose the winner from the trio of candidates. If $100,000 does not give you motivation, then the winner will also receive a Samsung Hue handset.

Students are not the only individuals who can take part in the competition; check on fanu.com for further details. The competition is 100% free, and the contest does not have a set age limit.

FanU.com is a social networking site- a hybrid between MySpace and ESPN.com- so fans will want to remain a part of the site after the promotion is complete because they can search news stories, write their own blogs and talk smack with any and all of their fellow fans and rivals.
