With one victory over a ranked opponent, Tyler Sorenson vaulted himself to a place among the best wrestlers in the country.

Sorenson took down No.11 Taylor Hudson of Maryland on Jan. 21, in doing so the junior earned Wrestler of the Week from the Western Wrestling Conference as well as the No. 16 ranking in the country. Sorenson earned a 13-11 decision over the third-place finisher at the 2008 National Championships.

Since defeating Hudson, Sorenson has recorded victories over Brent Fosheim of Northern State and Patrick Carey of Northern Colorado.

The 197-pound grappler from Garretson is a perfect 7-0 so far this year after sitting out the beginning of the year with an injury.
