In a series that the SDSU softball team needed to win, Summit League-leading Western Illinois swept the Jacks in a three-game series in Brookings.

The Jacks (9-36, 6-12) were held to one hit and two runs in game one in a 7-2 loss. WIU pitcher Kamren Ferguson had her 33 2/3 innings without an earned run streak snapped when Ashley Durazo singled to center for the Jacks only hit to score Brooke Postma from second.

In game two, Dani Broshar singled down the right field line to score Brooke Postma, tying the game at one in the bottom of the fourth. WIU would take the lead with a run in the sixth and would add three more in the seventh to win 5-1.

The Westerwinds (25-17, 15-2) would complete the sweep on Saturday with a 10-0 shutout in five innings. Ferguson would allow five hits and has given up only one earned one in her last 40 innings pitched.
