Zesto

Zesto’s appearance changed when the new store opened May 23 in a new location. The business expanded to have indoor seating and a drive-thru. The new location is on 22nd Avenue by the University Mall.

The dining room is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and the drive-thru is open from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. The store will now be open all year round because of its dining room seating.

“It’s a better business with more facilities. Business has been very good since we relocated,” owner Craig Vis said.

Zesto serves more of a variety of food with the new location including a hamburger menu and a range of fried foods. The store’s hot dog menu was expanded and also features chicken and fish. Zesto features a large ice cream menu including 103 avalanche flavors. Everything from the old menu is still available as well.

“The avalanches are real popular with the students. I would love everyone at SDSU to come check us out. We look forward to having business from students and others,” Vis said.

Zesto is a family-owned business; Vis’ wife and son are involved as well. Contact Zesto at 692-2305.

Mango Tree Coffee

The Brookings Public Library expanded its services this summer when Mango Tree Coffee, owned by Harsha Mistry, opened on the upper level of the library on July 23.

Starting Sept. 1, the hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mango Tree’s menu includes cookies, muffins, scones, brownies and possibly sandwiches in the future. All of the food is homemade.

“People come to the library and smell coffee so then they come upstairs and see the new coffee shop,” Mistry said. “Business has been steady.”

Mistry said Mango Tree Coffee is a different type of coffee shop because the coffee is stronger than other offerings in town. The coffee beans come from Coffea Roasterie in Sioux Falls and the coffee is fresh-ground and fresh-made.

Wi-Fi is available at the library and coffee shop.

“We offer home-baked goods and herbal teas. The coffee shop has a nice ambiance with the comfortable seating and the glass windows to get a view of outside,” Mistry said.

Contact Mango Tree Coffee at 695-9407 or look up Mango Tree Coffee on Facebook or Twitter. The library and coffee shop are located at 515 3rd St.

Culver’s

Culver’s Restaurant opened Aug. 24. They are open Sunday through Wednesday 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday 10:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

The outside design of the restaurant is a metro design, which makes it a bit different from the previous style.

“Business has been very brisk and steady,” said Jim Dixon, general manager. “There was less advertising than planned, and it was mainly word of mouth. It was what you would call a soft opening.”

Dixon has worked for Culver’s for seven years in Rapid City, S.D., Johnstown, Colo., and now Brookings.

Seth Skogen is the owner of the Watertown and Brookings stores.

“The reaction has been very positive and we are looking forward to the future,” Dixon said.
