With a stiff wind blowing, senior Justin Jenkins led the Jackrabbit men’s golf team to a 12th-place tie with Drake at the Diet Pepsi Shocker Classic held in Wichita, Kansas, April 5 and 6.

“The men struggled dealing with the wind in Wichita that was blowing a steady 30 to 40 mph the entire tournament,” head coach Jared Baszler said. “…We didn’t handle it as well as we should have.”

Jenkins shot a 228 (74-76-78) on the 6,814-yard course, which was good enough for a 26th-place finish. Sophomore Nolan Meyer finished in a tie for 57th after a two-day total of 238 (78-82-78). Not far behind was freshman Greg Fehrman, who shot a 239 (81-82-76), which landed him in a tie for 61st.

Other Jacks competing were Brian Wynia and Kyle Cooper, who finished in ties for 66th and 68th with scores of 241 (79-79-83) and 242 (79-79-84), respectively. Cooper was competing as an individual in the event. Also competing as individuals were freshmen David Smith, who shot a 247 (83-85-79), which placed him in a tie for 77th, and Parker Edens, who shot a 250 (83-87-80), good enough for 80th.
