The day before young ghosts and goblins head outdoors for trick-or-treating, the Pride of the Dakotas Marching Band will head indoors for its biennial concert at Frost Arena.

Doors will open at Frost Arena on the South Dakota State University campus at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30, with the show starting at 7. In keeping with the Halloween theme, the program will include Brookings illusionist, Reza.

Tickets are $5 in the upper level blue seat section, $10 in the lower center section and $15 on the floor. Children 8 years of age and under who attend in their Halloween costumes will be admitted at no charge, but they must be seated in the $5 section.

Pride of the Dakotas Director Jim Coull explained that the seating for the event had to change with an illusionist on the program. Seating on the sides was eliminated.

Reza will perform first, followed by the entrance of the Pride and a program that features highlights from the band’s on-field performances at 2010 Jackrabbit football games.

“Every show we do has a different set of music,” Coull said. The indoor concert will feature that music and might likely include some Halloween-themed songs like “Witchcraft” and “Black Magic Woman.”

Similar to the Brookings Community Band’s popular Children’s March, the children attending the indoor concert in costume will be asked to take part in a Costume March.

The concert will include performances by the flag, brass and drum lines. One highlight of the program will be the presentation of the biennial Friend of the Pride Award.
