Any fan of reality television is probably familiar with the popular series “America’s Got Talent.”

The new season is scheduled to air this summer, and open-call auditions are already underway.

The show has scoured the talent of New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago and now Minneapolis is on deck.

The Minneapolis auditions take place on January 22 and 23 at the Minneapolis Convention Center. If you’re interested in auditioning, make sure to pre-register and check out any new audition information at the America’s Got Talent website.

The show has come a long way since it’s debut in 2006. In its infancy, the show was hosted by Regis Philbin and judged by actor David Hasselhoff, pop singer Brandy Norwood, and journalist Piers Morgan.

Although this was popular, the NBC network decided to make a few changes over the years, throwing celebrities like Jerry Springer and Sharon Osbourne into the mix.

This season has familiar faces like return-host Nick Cannon, and Sharon Osbourne, Howie Mandel, and Piers Morgan returning as judges.

Over the years the show has allowed several artists to showcase their gifts; people like: Kevin Johnson a ventriloquist with a flair for humor, Jackie Evancho, an 11 year-old opera singer from Pittsburgh, and Terry Fator, ventriloquist, singer, comedian and winner of the second season of “Americas Got Talent.”

As with any series that allows open call auditions, half of the entertainment includes the weeding out of undesirables.

For anyone interested in viewing both amazing and disastrous performances on this season of “Americas Got Talent,” be sure to watch NBC this summer. Or you could make the trip to Minneapolis and audition. Maybe you could be the next 1 million dollar cash prize winner!
