BROOKINGS – In an attempt to cut inefficiencies, the South Dakota Board of Regents this week terminated 15 minors at South Dakota State University.

“Our academic programs must remain dynamic and responsive to the workforce and economic development needs of South Dakota and the students we serve,” said Jack Warner, the regents’ executive director and CEO. “While budget constraints tend to draw heightened attention to these changes, we believe it is important to periodically revisit our academic offerings so that the public university system can be as productive as possible,” he said.

Fifteen minors that had 20 graduates or less since 2004 were also terminated. They are:

Biological Science

Biorenewable Resources

Consumer Affairs

European Studies

General Science

Global Agriculture

Hospitality Management

Language Arts

Latin American Studies

Merchandising

Physical Science

Pre k-12 Reading

Social Science
